Terms of Service

1. Who provides the Service

Domain Name Proof (the “Service”, available at domainnameproof.online and through its API) is provided and operated by Active Life Hub LLC (“we”, “us”). By sending a request to the Service — through the website or the API, directly or through an automated agent acting for you — you accept these Terms. If you act on behalf of an organization or through an agent, you confirm that you are authorized to bind that organization or principal.

2. What the Service does

The Service issues a challenge for a domain name you specify, checks whether that challenge is published through a supported public mechanism (a DNS TXT record or an HTTP /.well-known resource), and, if it is found and paid for, issues a digitally signed statement (“Proof”) that control of the specified domain was demonstrated using the specified method at the recorded time.

3. What a Proof does not mean

A Proof is a statement about technical control at one point in time. It is not:

  • evidence of legal ownership of the domain or of any trademark or name;
  • verification of the identity of any person, company, registrant or agent;
  • evidence of authorization beyond control of the DNS zone or web server that served the challenge;
  • an assessment of the legitimacy, reputation, safety or trustworthiness of anyone;
  • a guarantee that the same party controls the domain at any later time;
  • a statement about any other name (the apex domain, subdomains and “www” are separate).

Anyone who relies on a Proof (“relying party”) decides for themselves whether it is sufficient for their purpose, how recent it must be and what else they require. We are not a party to any relationship between you and a relying party.

4. Your responsibilities

  • Request Proofs only for domains whose DNS or web server you are entitled to use for this purpose, and publish challenges only where you are allowed to.
  • Keep access keys secret; anyone holding one can act on that verification.
  • Share proof links and Proofs only with parties that should see them; a Proof contains the domain, timestamps and technical evidence.
  • Remove challenge records after use if you no longer need them.

5. Acceptable use

You must not use the Service to:

  • obtain or present a Proof in order to impersonate another person or organization, or misrepresent a Proof as evidence of ownership or identity;
  • support phishing, fraud, malware distribution or other unlawful activity;
  • probe, scan or attack networks or systems, including attempts to make the Service reach private or internal addresses;
  • overload the Service, circumvent rate limits or payment, or interfere with other users.

We may refuse, limit or stop requests, and decline to issue Proofs, where we reasonably believe these Terms are being violated.

6. Prices and payment

The price per issued Proof (0.019 USDC at the time of writing) is published on the pricing page, in the machine-readable pricing endpoint and in the HTTP 402 payment requirements, before you pay. Payment is made in USDC through the x402 protocol and settled via a third-party payment facilitator to our wallet on Base mainnet. Creating challenges, checks that do not find the challenge, status requests, proof retrieval and validation are free. Blockchain transactions are irreversible. You are responsible for your wallet, keys and spending limits.

7. Charges, failures and refunds

Payment is settled only in the same request that issues the Proof, after a fresh successful check. If the check fails or the settlement is not successful, nothing is charged. A repeated verification of an already proven challenge returns the same Proof without a new charge. If a settlement’s outcome is uncertain, do not pay again; keep the verification ID and contact us, and we will reconcile the case in good faith. Because each payment corresponds to a Proof delivered in the same response, we do not otherwise offer refunds, except where required by law. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under laws that cannot be waived by contract.

8. Availability and changes to the Service

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. It may be unavailable, changed or discontinued, and third-party providers (hosting, database, DNS resolvers, payment facilitator, blockchain networks) may fail. Signing keys may be rotated; retired public keys remain published while Proofs signed with them are within their validity period. Proof documents are retained for 90 days after they expire and may then be deleted.

9. Suspension

We may suspend or refuse service to any requester, domain or wallet where we reasonably suspect abuse, fraud, a security risk or a violation of these Terms or applicable law.

10. Intellectual property

The Service, its software, documentation and signing infrastructure belong to Active Life Hub LLC. You may store, copy and share Proofs issued to you, and relying parties may validate them, without further permission. The example validator code published on the website may be used and adapted freely for validating Proofs.

11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that checks cannot be deceived by attackers who control network paths, nameservers or web servers relevant to a domain. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data, including losses arising from a relying party’s decision to rely or not to rely on a Proof. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the Proof giving rise to the claim.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms by publishing a new version on this page. The version in effect when you send a request applies to that request.
